thanks for the help

Your playing on Sweet Child O Mine is a little sloppy, but not bad.

Solos are either melodies or flash. You construct a melody by playing something that flows with the underlying chord progression... usually the easiest way to do this is to identify the key of the song and start with the notes of the corresponding scale... ie a song in the key of C major, you play the notes from the C major scale.

Flash is a little different, it's when you use flashy techniques and cool sounding stuff to spice it all up. This could be anything from playing stylistic techniques like pinch harmonics, arpeggios, tapping, raking, sweep picking etc to complement the melody, or doing things like scalar or chromatic runs and flourishes, sound effects a la Tom Morello, making weird noises, etc.

Did you actually solo in there? I didn't listen long enough to hear if you did or not. Half of a good solo is a solid foundation of technique - playing cleanly, knowing your scale patterns and which techniques complement the sound of the song, and the other half is that magic "feel" or intuition, the creative muse....

Good luck... I'm not sure what else to say....
