Here's one career that requires cell phone recorders: being a journalist, reporter or interviewer. Why? Because journalists and interviewers are expected to quote their subjects truthfully. They may be commission for a story and may seek to speak with a celebrity, a creative talent, the head of a company or even a government official.
Here's a scenario: what if you were interviewing a high profile award winner over the phone for a new cover story? He only wants to do an interview by phone and expects you to quote him correctly. Now this is problematic because you can't read your own shorthand handwriting and you can't type over 40 words a minute! How do these people expect you to keep up with them? They don't expect you to keep up...they expect you to backtrack and listen to the recording.
The solution lies in cell phone recorders. All you have to do is simply inform the other person that you are recording the conversation. Obviously, not all of the information and quotes will appear in print as were recorded. The subject may wish to say something off the record, and will want assurance that he or she will be quoted truthfully. After all, how many celebrities or creative talents have been misquoted in a magazine just to sell more copies? An honorable reporter quotes celebrities truthfully, and the only way that reporter can ensure an accurate quote is by using cell phone recorders.
Cell phone recorders are very easy to use in this day and age. All a reporter or writer has to do is plug the device into the phone and click a button. Furthermore, he or she can record human voice within a short distance of the wireless microphone. That makes cell phone recorders ideal for a number of scenarios including note taking and surveillance. After recording the conversation (whether by cassette tape or by a digital recorder) you can transfer the conversation to your own storage files. If you use a digital recorder you can record an entire day's worth of conversations and then transfer the files to your home PC. You can archive the files or delete them after transcribing what you need. Frankly, if you're interviewing an Oscar winner, you should save the file for bragging later on!
In a way, a reporter is a private investigator. He or she has been commissioned to go out and get information at any reasonable cost. This usually involves interviewing sources and compiling information. If you are freelancing or frequently interviewing subjects then it makes sense to purchase cell phone recorders for your business needs. You never know when you will need them or when you just want to reminisce.
