Dave Matthews Band Tickets – Continues on their GrooGrux King Trail
The Dave Matthews Band has officially launched their 40-date summer 2010 trek, jumping out late May in Hartford, Conn. for several months of amphitheater and festival performances. Promoting Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King from last summer, the group will see a slew of opening acts like Ben Harper, Brett Dennen, the Felice Brothers and Gov't Mule. The first release not to feature Dave Matthews's original saxophonist LeRoi Moore, the summer release topped the Billboard 200 charts along with the Top Modern Rock/ Alternative Albums, Rock Albums and Digital Albums last year.

As the fifth consecutive set to open with over 400,000 copies sold, you'd think that Dave Matthews and his band would be rejoicing. But the June release came during the group's biggest losses – Moore had just died following an ATV accident and the group only managed to score a few of his practice rounds to include in the set. They immortalized their lost friend in the eighth studio set's title, which Matthews revealed was a nickname of the saxophonist.
The tribute album allowed the two-decade group to return to their origins, making rock music with a clear Americana approach. With success since the '90s, Dave Matthews' original jam band records were lost in the commercialization of it all. Following a brief solo stint and a series of DMB falls, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King has allowed the outfit to fully realize such original dreams.
Matthews formed his band in 1991 after creating some mixtapes solo. Recruiting Moore, drummer Carter Beauford, violinist Boyd Tinsley and bassist Stefan Lessard for some tracks, the group performed at Charlottesville, Virginia's Earth Day that year. After building a local fanbase, Dave Matthews Band moved on to studio time, recording the first album Remember Two Things in 1994. The indie set, recorded on Bama Rags, went gold and helped to expand the group's commercial base (it even found charting position on College charts).
It didn't take long for major labels to call – the group recorded their RCA debut Under the Table and Dreaming before the end of 1994 and launched an official tour. The four-time platinum release helped to expand the national tour to Europe and continued promotions as they headed into the studio for RCA album number two. By 1997 their roots rock found a way to the mainstream, as Crash became the group's bestselling album with a number two Billboard 200 debut. Though only their third studio effort came in 1998 it wasn't without hard work; the group had been constantly releasing live album titles and performing around the world to make their music popular radio finds.
Next came 2001's Everyday and the DVD "Dave Matthews Band, the Videos 1994-2001." The album was just one more in a series of live releases and live album sets that appeared over the next few years, keeping Dave Matthews' converged mainstream sound alive and well.
