Germs are found all around us. How long do they live without a host and do they really make us sick?
News reports that around 1,200 germs can be found on a remote control. They evaded the question of whether or not people in households with more germs were sick more or not. I think not. I thought that they needed to be passed human to human in order to stay active. Imagine how many germs are on money and why isn't everyone sick all of the time then?
Life would not be able to function properly without "germs". Germs are actually just bacteria. Everybody has bacteria on and in them at all times. For example, E. coli is necessary for proper digestion of food. You have many bacteria in your mouth, and women also have many different bacteria in their vagina that helps to fight off pathogenic bacteria. Bacteria are not all parasitic; they are organisms that can survive in a wide variety of conditions.
Money may have a lot of bacteria, but the only ones that are troublesome are those that are pathogenic. Also, one way people avoid getting sick from potentially pathogenic organisms is practicing good handwashing and sanitary techniques.
